Tattoos & Photography

Hey Hi Hello.

Its no secret that some of my favorite images include people with lots of tattoos. Seeing the unique artwork from body to body is wild to me, and I adore the diversity. It is always so much fun to highlight a new or favorite tattoo of a client and find ways of showcasing it in their boudoir shoot organically.

I love seeing the wide variety from person to person; everything from a memorial portrait piece of a deceased loved one, to a sharknana (yes, a shark banana. Its glorious). Not every tattoo has some deeper meaning, and frankly, that’s pretty awesome. No matter the meaning (or a lack thereof) a tattoo has, that person had to like it enough to pay someone to hurt them for an hour (or more) to get it. Which again, makes it even more captivating because sometimes the tattoo they get has nothing to do with serious life events and everything to do with "I thought it was funny". That’s not to insinuate that non-tattooed people aren’t interesting; you are magical and enthralling too I promise.

I myself have a wide collection of tattoos; some that have deep meaning, some that are just something I loved as a kid, and of course a handful of "that’s hilarious I want it on me forever". Looking back at old images of myself prior to each new tattoo I've gotten over the years feels so weird, like I don’t quite recognize that version myself for a moment. Every time though I'm glad I have images to look back on to see how time and experience has reflected itself through the artwork on my skin.

Part of why I love photographing tattooed people so much is that it elevates how different every body is beyond our usual variations of hair color, height, body composition etc. I LOVE how different we all are, and how we make ourselves even more so through tattoos. I can have two clients that have similar physical characteristics and get wildly different images of each, in part, due to their body art.

Suffice to say, please bring me all your wonderful tattooed weirdness.
